WHAT IS IT LIKE TO WORK AT CARTER BOND SOLICITORS?
Temi Ade-John | Dispute Resolution Partner
I joined the firm in 2018, having been a partner in a similar boutique practice before relocating to the Caribbean and developing a practice in Trinidad & Tobago. Having resumed practice in the UK in 2016, I joined Carter Bond Solicitors as a consultant, with a view to developing the litigation and dispute resolution practice at the firm. It was an opportunity and responsibility that I seized with gusto, and we were soon being instructed to act in a number of wide-ranging and complex disputes, varying from IP and company commercial disputes to insolvency and property litigation. I was made a partner at Carter Bond Solicitors in 2020 and we now have a significant dispute resolution practice, which continues to grow.
Naju Chowdhury | Solicitor
I joined the firm in October 2019 having undertaken contentious and tax work previously. I completed seats in litigation and also corporate law but for a newly qualified solicitor to either choose a specialist area or move to a different practice area can be daunting. I have been very impressed in the way the firm provides support in career development. My role offers great diversity and I specialise in corporate and commercial law in addition to leading the intellectual property department.
Howard Lewis-Nunn | Barrister & Partner
As an employment specialist I see a broad range of work. As well as advising businesses and their owners I also advise individuals on employment matters. I also provide advice on transactions for the transfer of staff. You have a lot of client contact at Carter Bond and so you can really get to know them and their business, which helps you to serve them better.
Jayesh Jotangia | Barrister
I’ve been associated with Carter Bond for over 4 years now and really enjoy being part of this friendly team. There are a number of things that puts the CBS team a cut above the rest though, however the sense of urgency on matters and keeping clients up to date at all times are aspects at the forefront for the firm. It’s always nice when a client re-instructs us no matter what, because at that stage you know you’ve done a very good job for them and have become a trusted professional for them.
Lena Thakrar | Commercial Property Partner
I initially joined the firm from a large City practice having worked on a variety of real estate transactions, ranging from retail parks and multi let schemes through to single let units as leasehold interests and freehold acquisitions and disposals. The ethos, client centric focus and commercial outlook at Carter Bond, provides a great driving factor to further my career here. I became a Commercial Property Partner in 2020 and look forward to developing this practice area within the firm with our clients at the forefront of everything we do.
Talha Fazlani | Business Development
Sonia Suman | Trainee Solicitor
I joined the firm in 2019 as a paralegal with my training contract commencing in April 2020. Everyone at Carter Bond Solicitors is friendly and approachable at all levels and the managing partner provides clear communication on the direction of the firm. I am grateful for the responsibility I am given and my own case files to manage as this in my opinion is the best way to learn in practice. Working for Carter Bond Solicitors has given me the chance to work with clients from a variety of sectors. During my training contract I have also had the opportunity to work alongside my colleagues who all have different levels of experience and expertise.
Hammad Naveed | Solicitor
I joined the firm’s corporate and commercial department, with the hope of expanding my experience in corporate M&A. Since joining, I have worked on a variety of transactions ranging from corporate share sales to business asset purchases in multiple sectors including retail and healthcare. Carter Bond promotes a positive outlook both internally and externally, which helps maintain good relationships with all of its key contacts, clients and suppliers and makes day-to-day working life much smoother. My colleagues are quite talented and friendly, contributing towards a supportive working environment, alongside systems and resources which are also very helpful. I find that I am able to comfortably get more work done in less time, and have a great day while doing it. I look forward to progressing my career with Carter Bond in the years to come.
Chris Gillie | IT Manager
I worked with Reena at another law firm before she set up Carter Bond, so I was pleasantly surprised and honoured that she turned to me to look after her IT, as opposed to turning to a more traditional IT service company. The firm has grown rapidly, and Reena has attracted a superb team to work there. I find it a pleasure to help all the people there, they are a genuinely friendly and lovely bunch of people to work with.
Surbhi Kansara | Office Manager and PA
I joined Carter Bond back in 2018 and worked with Reena at another law firm previously for 4 years. When I joined the firm there were only a handful of team members and I am pleased to say its been a wonderful journey seeing the team grow to over 15 people now. We are more like a “family” and have a great amount of respect for each other. It’s a pleasure to work alongside each and every one of them. Carter Bond is now 6 years old and Reena has done an amazing job to bring it to where it is today… I look forward to the future of CB and its new home!
Dhanisha Bharadia | Legal Assistant
I joined the firm in December 2019 and it has been most the challenging yet rewarding experience since working in the legal profession. The team here at Carter Bond are incredibly supportive and down to earth. Since joining, I have learnt a lot and continue to do so. At Carter Bond, we are encouraged to bring out the best in ourselves, be creative and think on our feet. I would like to thank Carter Bond for allowing me to join their team where I know I can grow.
